A Light Live Show Weekend?

Published by balaspa at 12:00 am under Chicago, concerts, jazz, music, musicians Edit This

Well, a curious thing happened when I went searching in my usual spot to find jazz and blues shows this weekend.  Of course, by now, you know I rely heavily on radio station WDCB for that kind of information.  Some might say I am a little lazy.  Sure, I could spend hours scouring the web, painstakingly pulling each jazz club with a website up and pulling their calendars.  But that would just make me cranky and no one wants a cranky blogger, trust me.

Still, what happens if my one real resource is suddenly  light?  For crying out loud, I have to reach a certain word limit for this entry to even count!  What do I do then?  Well, the first thing I do is create a couple of paragraphs where I talk about the process of finding jazz and blues shows, like I just did here.  I hope that I have enough to blab about that I can make it past that word minimum and then the whole entry can count and everyone can be happy and I get money.

So, I checked out WDCB and, for some reason, they say it is a light weekend for live jazz.  I have a hard time believing that the Velvet Lounge, for example, is closed down for the weekend, but for some reason it isn’t on their site.  Am I took lazy to bother looking up the Velvet Lounge?  Yes, I am.

So, from WDCB, here are the live jazz shows for this weekend (they didn’t list ANY blues shows):

JAZZ

Nouveau Quartet
April 17, 2009
C.J. Arthur’s, Wilmette

CheckerJazz Series
April 19, 2009
Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago
