Some V-Day Jazz
I hate Valentine’s Day with an all-consuming passion I normally reserve just for hating the television show “American Idol.” I think the importance so many people, in particular women, put on this holiday is completely insane. It’s a random day, people, made commercial by candy companies, card companies and the restaurant industry with the flower people thrown in for good measure. They meet in secret underground caves and plot the latest thing (oh yeah, and the jewelry people too) and make it so if you don’t do exactly the right thing, your sweetie will feel justified in making you miserable for the rest of the year. Hardly seems fair.
That being said, you may want to take your lady or guy to the M Lounge here in Chicago on Valentine’s Day for some cool jazz and some great food. The M Lounge people sent me some information about themselves last year and they keep me informed regularly of events there. I like that and that means I promote them. That’s a hint to any of you other marketing people who work for jazz and blues clubs around Chicago. Here is what they have going on for Valentine’s Day.
