Some More Christmas Jazz
I know, it’s the week of Thanksgiving. Trust me, if Thanksgiving was the main holiday at the end of the year instead of Christmas and there were hundreds of Thanksgiving songs, I would gladly post them on this particular blog. As I have stated here before, for me, the real holiday has become Thanksgiving. It’s about getting together, eating, spending time with family and either napping or watching football or both. To me, this is the perfect holiday.
Since Christmas is the main holiday for this time of year that means there are seemingly endless numbers of Christmas tunes. The thing is, you can’t find any of the jazz greats, besised Mel Torme and Judy Garland, doing their Christmas tunes on YouTube. Sure, I could spend time looking elsewhere, but I am trying to relax this week. In case you haven’t noticed, it’s a holiday.
There is a seemingly endless list of high school jazz ensembles playing Christmas jazz. I find this very amusing. All of these parents are being forced to attend various Christmas concerts at this time of year. You know they really don’t want to be there. They have to watch everyone else’s kid doing their thing before their kids come out. Each band has to have its turn.
So, I found something that comes to us from the UK. I have no clue what band this is but the little blurb to the right of the video on YouTube claims it is from some jazz CD called “Christmas Jazz” that you can order online. I just know I listened to it this morning and found it Christmas-y and not half bad.
So, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and Bah-Humbug.
